As many Yankees fans know, Derek Jeter played his last and final game and is now bidding the professional sport farewell. This came to a shock for a lot of people and some are pretty upset with the decision that Jeter made, but hey…it is his decision. During this game, Phil Ivey, who we all know and love within the poker field – made a Tweet at the same time.
He tweeted that Jeter had a final moment in the game that was one for all ages, and this touched many people in a way that you wouldn’t believe. Not only did Jeter see it, but so many other news channels covered it that many people forgot for a second what was happening and saluted those players for their hearts in the game, and on the poker table.
Bridging the Gap Between Poker and Sports
Phil Ivey is a poker player but also known in the world of sports, and this is one big guy that knows how to bridge the gap between the two – sports and the poker table. If you root for him during game play, then most likely you root for him during poker tournaments, as well.
Many big named stars, athletes, celebrities and so on are found at poker tables from time to time but when they tweet something so respectful and in tune with the moment – we have to make sure that it doesn’t go unnoticed and this is what we are doing. We want to make sure that Phil Ivey’s tweet is known by both sports and poker fans across the world as to what was Jeter’s last game at home field and let it be known that now is a time to rejoice and thank Jeter for some of the best games that we’ve ever seen.
Phil Ivey, we now want to see you play some of the best poker hands that we have ever seen when it comes to the table. You just have to make sure that someone else tweets about those so then we can make sure to take the next step and give it the coverage it deserves.
