WPT Season XII Schedule Announced
The 44th annual World Series of Poker (WSOP) is well under way now, and is already into its second week, and as you would expect news from Las Vegas is dominating poker blogs and poker websites around the world. Here at PokerNet.com we will of course bring you up to date with all the winners and losers, but today the focus of our attention is the World Poker Tour (WPT), which has announced the schedule for the first half of their latest tour.
Season XII will start in August with the WPT Cyprus being the first event on this years calendar. The event will be held at the Merit Crystal Cove Casino with the first cards being dealt on Friday 16th August. Adam Pliska is the President of the WPT and he had this to say about this years event. He said, “Our strategy of global expansion is now being fully realized. From 18 events in Season VIII to nearly 60 Main Tour, Regional, and National events in Season XII.
The WPT is televised on the Fox Sports Network and the pair have got together to extend their partnership for a further three years, something that the Vice President David Sussin is “thrilled” about. Mr Sussin said, “We are thrilled to be partnering with the WPT for the next three years. The WPT has delivered record viewers over the past two seasons, and that is a testament to the consistent quality of the show and the WPTs position as the world’s première provider of poker programming.”
After the first event in Cyprus the WPT will visit North America, but it will also make stops in Europe and Asia too, as well as there being stops in South Africa and the Caribbean. The schedule for the first half of season XII is listed below.
