William Hill Set To Withdraw Services From 55 Countries
When it comes to one of the most trusted brands in the world of online poker William Hill has to right up there at the top, after all they are one of the leading names on the iPoker network, have been trading since the 1930’s and operate on the London Stock Exchange. Despite their popularity the company have today revealed they are to stop operating in 55 countries across the globe, which will come as a huge shock to players in some of the counties effected.
The William Hill brand will no longer be accessible in countries like South Africa, Thailand and Uruguay, for what is believed to be “regulatory issues”. A letter was sent to affiliates in the 55 effected counties earlier this week, as well as being sent to the media. Players will no longer be able to open new accounts or use their accounts in any of the 55 counties due to the forthcoming changes in gambling laws and regulations.
While 55 countries may sound a significant number, and it most certainly is on paper, it is believed that all of the countries only account for roughly 1% of William Hills annual global revenue, with some of the counties on the list to be excluded not even having a valid registered user.
