William Hill are renowned for their high street betting shops and their online sports books in the UK, but they also have their own poker websites too. According to reports this morning they are now planning to launch their poker websites on to the Italian market, and they hope to challenge the market leaders PokerStars.it in the not too distant future.

In 2011 William Hill launched their online casino in Italy and they have already earned themselves a 7% share of the market less than two years after entering the Italian market. Their new poker website is to be launched later this year and it is set to be launched in partnership with Playtech.

According to the Italian gaming regulator the Amministrazione Autonoma Monopoli Di Stato (AAMS), PokerStars.it currently have over a third share of the poker cash game market in Italy with a 38.3% share of the market. Their tournament share is even greater with over half of the Italian poker market playing their tournament poker at PokerStars.it, with the figure currently standing at 51.3%. According to the AAMS William Hill and Playtech will at least hope to match those figures, if not better them, and they are looking to do this by sharing liquidity with the iPoker Network.

If William Hill are as successful in Italy as they are in UK and the rest of the world then their new poker site is sure to be a success, and it will give the Italian poker playing public another great option to play cash and tournament poker.
