Online Poker company’s are always looking at new innovative ideas to attract new players to their sites, and it is also a way of keeping their current client base happy as well. At the beginning of October Full Tilt Poker announced that Viktor “Isildur1” Blom would be putting $100,000 of his own money on the line in a heads-up challenge, a challenge that would see him play 100 heads-up matches against 100 different players, with anyone lucky enough to beat the full time professional walking away with $1,000.

Before the challenge started Blom was in a bullish mood and claimed he was looking to win every single match. He said, “I plan to win all 100 of these, so good luck, I guess.” With his record you would not put that past him, but not everything went the Swedish players way, and at one time he wad lost 66% of the matches played, though by the end of the challenge, as you would expect, he had turned things around and eventually won 62 of the 100 games played.

Things did not start off well for Blom because after the first 33 heads-up battles he had won just 11 and lost 22, which meant he had already lost $22,000 of his own money. As you would expect from a player who is known throughout the poker world for his high stakes heads-up matches things slowly started to tun in his favour, and over the next 24 matches he won 18 and lost just six to take the lead by one with 29 wins and 28 losses.

Of the remaining 43 matches Blom lost just 10, which gave him a record of 62 wins and 38 losses over the 100 matches. The challenge lasted 10 days in total with Blom playing 10 games a day, five at a time, with the average for each game being 34 hands. The longest game took 86 hands to complete, and the quickest was all over in just one hand.

All in all this was a great experience for many Full Tilt Poker players, with 38 beating one of the worlds best players, and it is one that should be repeated very soon by all online poker companies and one of their top known professionals.
