Vanessa Selbst To Take On Rafael Nadal In Heads Up Duel This Friday
When it comes to female poker players they do not come much better than the worlds most successful Vanessa Selbst, after all she has won in the region of $10million during her career. This coming Friday she will be putting her reputation on the line when she takes on the one of the world’s best tennis players Rafael Nadal in a heads up poker match in Monte Carlo.
Selbst will obviously be the overwhelming favourite to win, but as we all know to our cost anything can happen in a game of poker, and even more so in a heads up battle, and when you take into account that Nadal is no stranger to success at the tables it should be a very interesting contest. Late last year Nadal took down a charity event, sponsored by PokerStars, and during the event he even defeated the one and only Daniel Negreanu in the process so he will be no pushover.
Speaking at the weekend when the heads up match was announced Nadal said, “It’s no secret that I love the competition and that’s what I like about poker. It’s a game of skill that requires mental strength and the ability to out-think your opponents, and in that way there are similarities to tennis. I have been playing poker online for almost two years and now I’m looking forward to the challenge of playing against Vanessa.”
Playing Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray or Roger Federer in a final of a Grand Slam Tennis tournament is one thing, but taking on one of the best female players the world has ever seen is surely going to test Nadal to the absolute max, but in saying that it is sure to be an intriguing contest and it would be no surprise if Nadal battled his way through the contest to eventually come out on top.
