Top Poker Player winning 11.6 Million Dollars Doesn’t Even Know She’s Won

The highest earning female poker player Vanessa Selbst of all time, has earned herself over 11.6 Million dollars in winnings as she is only at the age of 31.  Vanessa is a member of the PokerStars Pro, where she is known by the username “V. Selbst.”  10 years ago Vanessa started playing professional poker and since then she has not looked back, apart from the 2 year break she took in order to go to law school at Yale.  Vanessa has earned herself 3 World Series of Poker bracelets, as well as being the only woman poker player to win 3 bracelets in an open WSOP event.    Vanessa has some mentoring moments to share.

Poker players who are successful at playing are inherently confident people, and they should be.  These players have made millions off of nothing besides their very own wits.  One of the very top poker players whose name is Rob goes into each and every event believing that he will win it all.  Forget the fact that luck plays a very huge factor within each and every poker hand, forget the fact that we all just have our off days, it is very easy to admire Rob and his optimism, yet it is simply not rational to actually believe that you will beat out hundreds of other players each and every time that you are competing.

Vanessa’s form of thinking is not due to being unconfident, it is just because she is a realist. Her poker career has been a work in progress over the years.  For a very long time she believed that the answer to winning was to be more confident.  It actually turned out that this was just a bit harder than it sounded.  So instead, she learned to flip the script and turn her self-doubt into something positive – Brute rationality.  Do not carry those failures with you, Learn from them and move forward, only celebrate the success that comes to you on the way.
