Philipp Gruissem Winning Steak Just Goes On And On
In recent weeks we haver written a lot about Philipp Gruissem, and rightly so, because the German star has been winning high roller events all over the world, just like a duck would take to water. It has also emerged that he has been running hot online too, and in recent weeks he has won well in excess of $100,000. Is there no stopping this guy?
Already this year Gruissem has won $4.6million from tournament poker alone, with two wins in the World Poker Tour (WPT) Alpha 8 Series to his name, both of which came within the space of three weeks, and a win in the World Series of Poker Asia-Pacific (WSOP APAC) High Roller earlier in the year. On top of that he also came third in the World Series of Poker Europe High Roller Event too.
His two wins at the Alpha8 Series pocketed him $2,466,240 with the winners cheque at London being the biggest win of his career to date, a win that saw him take home $1,379,840. His win at the WSOP APAC saw him take home $825,000, and his third place finish at the WSOP saw him pocket another $250,000.
You would think that Gruissem would take a rest after such a successful year, but the young German was having none of that and last weekend he took to the virtual felt to take down Event 2 in the recent Full Tilt Online Poker Series XXIV (FTOPS) where he defeated 426 other players to take down the title and the first prize of $93,940 in the $300,000 guarantee. It has also emerged, courtesy of Pokernews.com, that Gruissem is up to the tune of nearly $50,000 from online cash games too, a total he has earned from playing nearly 3,000 hands of $50/$100 No Limit Hold’em.
In our eyes there is only one player of the year and that is Philipp Gruissem, and with his record no-one can deny that 2013 has been a career defining year in the life of this German poker player.
