New York Welcomes New Largest Poker Room State-Wide
Resort World Catskills opened in early February, but its 5,000 square-foot poker room didn’t open until this week and is expected to be an instant hit and to boost the state’s economy.
This largest integrated casino resort destination is spacious and promises luxury amenities that can’t be found anywhere else in the state. Its poker room is the largest poker room of any commercial casino in the state of New York and will be open 24 hours a day.
With 19 tables, 80 dealers and 171 seats the room will offer players amenities like USB charging ports at every seat, host of a big-screen TVs and food and beverage service. Resort World Catskills plans to introduce weekly promotions and its own annual poker tournament in the second half of the year but for now, customers will have the opportunity to play Texas Hold’em, Omaha and 7 Card Stud and their variants.
The minimum buy-in to play in the room is $30 and the room also offers Bad Beat Jackpots starting at 5s. The resort plans to cater the most elite ones of casino patrons with a premium mass high limit area and a third-floor VIP room. The resort is expected to provide guests with the most extensive, exciting and luxury experience and solidify Resort World Catskills as the state’s premier casino resort.
New York previously had a total of 116 poker tables in 10 poker rooms where players can enjoy playing a number of poker games including Texas Hold’em (limit and no limit), Omaha (Hi, Hi-Lo, Pot-Limit, 8), Seven Card Stud (7,Razz, Hi-Lo), Crazy Pineapple, Sit-n-go, various tournaments and many more.
Despite such a good offer, 2017 proved to be quite a disappointment unfortunately, for operators and New York tax collectors.
The casinos generated $230 million less than expected in their revenue projections according to USA Today. That’s almost 40% short of the figure floated during the license-garnering process. Financial giant Standard & Poor’s doesn’t expect things to change soon but state officials agree, that even with poorer performance than expected, the casinos still managed to boost local economies and the tax coffers of local governments.
Being the biggest casino in the area now, Resort World Catskills will most definitely have a key role in boosting the New York market.
