Even before Day 2 began of the Barcelona’s European Poker Tour Main Event, PokerStars gave a very huge unexpected announcement that starting in the year of PokerStars 2017, their PokerStars live events will ultimately be reconstructed into two very unique categories, the first of these categories will be known as the PokerStars Festivals and the second of these categories will be known as the PokerStars Championships.

PokerStars has already scheduled the very first Championship that will be located in the Bahamas from January 6th to January 14th, 2017; this is a rebranding of the tour that was known as PokerStars Caribbean Adventure.  Future Championships that will be held and scheduled will last a total of 10 to 11 days as well as close in a €/$5,000 Main Event. Destinations that have already confirmed for these Championships include Monte Carlo, Barcelona, as well as Panama, but there are more locations anticipated to be announced in the very near future.

In the meantime, what are to be known as PokerStars Festivals will ultimately take place over a shorter period of time lasting only six to maybe seven days?  These Festivals will ultimately have a buy in for their main event of €/$1,000-1,500, and will also hold a very wide range of separate events that will be held for those who are only recreational poker players.  The only locations for these PokerStars Festivals that have been announced are located in London as well as New Jersey as of today.

This announcement is being considered as one of the biggest live tournament announcements that can be remembered in history, and it has been stated that the change will in fact change the way people view these PokerStars events in the future.
