If we tell you that by playing poker you could help the people hit by devastating hurricanes Harvey and Irma, would you do it?

Of course you would.

The upcoming Sunday, 17 September, will see Global Poker organize a charity tournament where players will be given a chance to demonstrate their support to people affected by these tragic events.

The Global Poker decided to jump on the tournament idea suggested by one of their regular forum contributors and will host the tournament at 16:30 EST next Sunday. After seeing the scale of actual damage caused by the two storms, the Global Poker Founder and CEO Laurence Escalante did not waste any time to latch on this great idea and moved forward to realize the plan with his up and coming online poker room.

“Global Poker is proud to work with our players to contribute to the relief effort. I would personally like to show my support for all of those who have gone above and beyond to help those in need during this time”, he said.

The Global Poker tournament comes with a SC$5+SC$5 buy-in. if you’re wondering what SC stands for – it’s Sweeps Cash, the Global Poker’s virtual currency which has been one of the main reasons behind Global Poker’s immediate success.

The Sweeps Cash is used to buy into tournaments and ring games, while they are part of Global Poker’s effort to introduce Gold Coins – a virtual currency worth much the same as play money chips.

All of the proceeds from the tournament will be donated to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. Topping up the deal, Global Poker decided to add $25 for each player which registers for this charity tournament. This way, every player’s contribution to the cause will be multiplied by five.

Hitting the scene as a direct competitor to the online poker giants such as PokerStars, Global Poker is the new kid in town who has taken the online poker world by storm. Even though the site has been launched just recently, it is already among the top 10 sites worldwide when it comes to player volume.

Ultimately, it’s the single fastest growing poker site for United States players.
