Australian Jackie Glazier Claims WSOPE Ladies’ Championships

At the beginning of August we wrote an article regarding Jackie Glazier and her new contract with 888Poker, and we also told you that her first public appearance for her new team would be at the World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) in France. Well her first appearance could not have gone any better as she took the first bracelet at this years WSOPE when she claimed the WSOPE Ladies’ Event and with it her first coveted World Series bracelet.

It has been an eventful 18 months for Glazier and her followers, but now she finally has a WSOP bracelet to show for her efforts after coming close in the past. At last years WSOP she was runner-up in Event 41, a 2nd place finish that saw her pocket $458,996, and this year she was the last woman standing in the Main Event, a 31st placed finish that saw her take home $229,281. While the payouts are great in years to come nobody remembers the losers only the winners, so Glazier is delighted to have taken the step to the winners circle and claim her first ever WSOP bracelet.

Speaking shortly after her win at the weekend Glazier said, “I think I’ve had so many close calls and near-misses. Getting heads-up with the stack sizes being even. The gravity of if I did come second again, I’m not sure how I’d cope with it. I’m sure it would’ve taken me a few days to get over it.”

Glazier entered the heads-up battle with Maryline Valente with a slight advantage, but with both players having at least 100 big blinds to their name play was expected to go on for a number of hours. It did not and the end came when Valente went all in with a pair of 6’s which Glazier was quick to call with a pair of Jacks. The flop of AQ4 was no help, and when the five of diamonds was revealed on the turn only a six could save Valente. It never came and Glazier was crowned the champion, and she took home the spoils and her first ever WSOPE title after a number of near misses in the past.
