Anti-Poker Activists Create a Machine to Show Negatives of Poker

While we all, here, enjoy poker, it is still good to hear what others that do not are up too. Lately, this new anti-poker machine has come into play and it has taught us many of the things that we already knew, if poker was to take over our lives, that is. Here are some of the details that you should be aware of with this new app, and how it works.

The Details of the Anti-Poker App

The interactive map that was put into this poker app is able to show the harmful effects, and money lost, to poker machines throughout Tasmania. The owner of the app states that pokies is a rigged game, and it was designed to be addicting so that the players keep wanting to come back for more, thinking they’re going to win some sort of cash and actually walk away with much less than they started with in the beginning.

According to the map, the worst annual loss is found in Glenorchy, with a loss of around $20.11 million. This accounts for around 270 poker machines throughout the area, and for the many people that play them. This means that the casino that has the poker machines are the ones that are making all of the millions of dollars each time a player loses their cash on them.

Launceston and Davenport are the next two areas that have devastating losses that are being shown right under Glenorchy. All three contribute to some of the highest money lost in the entire area, while the rest are following and soon to be right up there with the others. This just shows just how much is lost.

However, it is hard to say whether or not the money won is enough to cover and take away from some of the losses in each of the areas. The app does not show or account for this when you’re looking at it on your mobile device. Also, another thing to consider is how much money, this money that is lost, goes into the state and local governments to help and aide in the support of the economy and the people around it. This has a lot to do with the systems and what they can provide to the people of the area.

While the anti-poker activists are still looking for many reasons to ban these, stating that they ruin the economy, specifically the lower class parts, they are not accounting for everything that also goes into the machines and the cash that is put in them and lost. This might never change, but it is good to know.
