It was announced that 888 plans to complete the buyout of William Hill “on or around” June 30, 2022, after shareholders overwhelmingly approved the transaction.

888 shareholders voted in favor of the proposed acquisition at the company’s Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM), with approximately 307 million votes cast in favor.

This is more than 99 percent of the total number of votes cast. In comparison, only 0.27 percent of the vote was cast against, with 819,264 votes cast against and 18,306 votes withheld.

But more importantly, with shareholders’ approval secured, the company has entered the final chapter of an almost nine-month-long saga.

888 won the auction for William Hill’s European division in September 2021, outbidding everyone with a £2.2 billion ($2.7 billion) bid.

And in a few weeks, this investment will pay off; 888 plans to complete its acquisition of William Hill by the end of the month.

This will be in addition to the company’s complete share capital being readmitted to the FCA’s Official List’s premium listing sector and trading on the London Stock Exchange’s main market.

Lord Mendelsohn, Non-Executive Chairman of 888 Holdings, commented:

“We are delighted with the support of our shareholders for our proposed acquisition of William Hill and would like to thank them for their continued, constructive engagement as part of this process.

“We look forward to completing this transformational acquisition at the end of June, creating a global online betting and gaming leader through the combination of two highly complementary businesses and two of the industry’s leading brands.”
