2017 SCOOP Schedule Finally Announced by PokerStars
PokerStars has finally released the 2017 Spring Championship of Online Poker schedule. This one is sure to be poker’s most ruthless yet. 2016 SCOOP was one that broke many of the PokerStars records, this year’s championship will be running a week longer, as well as having a 55 million dollar guaranteed prize pool, this is 15 million dollars more than last year’s prize pool. Although, this year will still have the same SCOOP schedule format, with the events running in triplicate and 3 separate buy ins for each event. When all is said and done there are a total of 57 events that are scheduled, which ultimately means that there are a total of 171 tournaments.
The extra week of this year’s schedule has been added to the beginning of the tournament, it has been reserved for what is known to be “phased” tournaments. The way this week is run is that there are many starting flights that are spread across a total of a week. Each of these flights will last the same amount of time, later during the tournament the survivors will return to continue playing within the tournament. This is simply a way to give players a chance to play in a large tournament with large prize pools, yet they will not have to make the commitment of playing the whole day or even two days in a row.
One very interesting type of game that is making its very first SCOOP debut is the “Win the Button,” which first hit the stage during last year’s WCOOP. During this year’s SCOOP there will both the No Limit Hold’em as well as the No Limit Omaha versions of this amazing event. In the poker game “Win the Button,” the player who wins the hand will get the button for the next hand, thus making this name makes perfect sense. These tournaments tend to feature a more aggressive game play, and the award for winning a hand is much greater than normal.
