Two Women Almost Made It To The Final Table

Written By: PokerNet.com | July 17, 2012 | Posted In Poker News

French female poker player Gaelle Baumann was almost the first female player to enter the Final Table of the Main Event for World Series of Poker 2012. She lost at around 3:30AM and placed 10th in rankings.

Elisabeth Hille was also close to the final table, placing 11th at this year’s Main Event Final Table. This year will most likely be known as “The Year of the Woman” for WSOP since there were two female players who were very close to making it in the Final Table.

Baumann was at the bottom throughout a few eliminations with her chip stack, but still she almost made it into the October Nine – the Final nine players at the Final Table who would be going against each other to get the coveted first prize of WSOP 2012 Main Event. She had a good run, but sadly it wasn’t enough to get her into the final cut.

Here are the poker players who made it into the October Nine:

  1. Jesse Sylvia – chip leader; has most number of chips by the end of the latest eliminations
  2. Russell Thomas
  3. Jacob Balsiger
  4. Steven Gee
  5. Greg Merson – already has a bracelet from Event #57: No-Limit Hold’em/Six Handed
  6. Robert Salaburu
  7. Andras Koroknai – the only non-US player at the Final table; representingHungary
  8. Michael Esposito
  9. Jeremy Ausmus
