Redhouse, Lopez and Guagenti Win Big Over The Weekend

Here at Poker Net we pride ourselves on bringing you up to date with the very latest news stories in the world of poker, whether it be the latest promotions, tournament schedules or legal issues. Today we bring you news on some of the latest winners from around the world, in what was a very busy weekend for live tournament poker, with three players celebrating six figure payouts.

The first player celebrating was Australian Josh Redhouse as he beat 457 other players to take down the Australia New Zealand Poker Tour (ANZPT) Main Event in Sydney. Redhouse had even more reason to celebrate at the weekend because his appearance in the ANZPT was his first major live poker tournament, and for his troubles he walked away with a cool AUS$133,360. Not a bad return for your first ever live tournament is it!

The Latin America Poker Tour (LAPT) visited Chile at the weekend and Argentinian Mario Lopez was the eventual champion defeating 608 players on his way to the title. Lopez is the seventh Argentinian to win on the LAPT in recent years and he walked away with $117,991 after finally defeating Rodrigo Perez in a titanic 90 minute heads up battle.

The third big winner of the weekend was Nick Guagenti from Westerville, Ohio as he won the inaugural Queen City Classic Main Event at the Horseshoe Casino in Cincinnati. A total of 529 players paid the $1,500 entry fee to generate a prize pool of $714,150, with winner Guagenti taking home the lions share of $153,548.

These three events from three different locations around the world just go to show that live tournament poker is alive and well, and with huge amounts of money being paid out online as well poker is most definitely here to stay.
