Get Beat at Poker Every Time By a Computer

If you thought you were good at playing poker, think again. There has been a Canadian company that developed a poker playing computer that is able to beat you, again and again and again. So if you thought you called the shots at the poker table then you better think again. They decided to make a computer that could show everyone just how smart it is when you try to play and win against it.

Details on This Computer

Cephus is the computer that is incapable of losing at a game of two player Texas Hold em poker. You wouldn’t think that something like this was possible but the makers felt that they solved the problem and the computer knows all the right ways to play – without cheating.

How the computer works is through learning specific moves. When it makes a wrong move, or the other player does, the computer is able to learn from that wrong move so that it does not make the same move again, and actually learns to make the better move of them. One of the biggest things that they worked on for this program and this was also one of the hardest, was bluffing. They had to teach the computer how to hold their poker face and bluff while in the middle of the game.

They also state that the computer has lost, but this was due to a crummy hand and not anything that the computer did when it came to making a move. This is just something that happens when you are dealt bad cards. You have to take one for the team and try to get a better hand the next time around. No matter how good of a poker player you are, the cards can always hold you back.

The computer is one that is going to be able to provide you with exactly what you need, when you need it. You can learn from the moves it makes and you can play against it to become a better poker player in the long run. This might be a great learning course in the making for those that want to improve their poker skill.
