The European Poker Tour (EPT) is currently in the middle of its 10th season, with season 11 getting underway in August later this year, and when season 11 commences in Barcelona in August the EPT will also be celebrating its 100th event.

To celebrate the landmark of 100 events the EPT will be putting on their biggest and best poker festival ever, in the very same location that it all began in 2004, Barcelona. The event will run from Saturday 16th August until Wednesday 27th August, and will take place at the Casino Barcelona, and will be run in partnership with PokerStars and the Spanish Regional Estrellas Poker Tour.

The EPT President Edgar Stuchly had this to say regarding the landmark event. He said, “The EPT was born in Barcelona so it’s very fitting to celebrate EPT’s 100th event in true style and with unforgettable poker. EPT Barcelona is one of the most popular tour stops and attracts players from all over the world for the fantastic mix of beaches, iconic architecture, party atmosphere and world class poker.”

This years event will see the addition of 20 extra tables at the Casino Barcelona in the hope that more players will attend and break last years record where the EPT Main Event registered 1,234 players, and the Spanish Regional Estrellas Poker Tour attracted 1,798.

When the first cards were dealt back in 2004 at the very first EPT event no-one would have anticipated the success the tour has had over the past 10 years, and to date the EPT has visited 16 different countries and created 39 millionaires in the process, with in excess of over 180,000 players registering to take part. The future looks extremely bright for the EPT and there is no reason why they cannot progress even further over the course of the next 10 years.
