Beijing To Stage First Ever Asia Pacific Poker Tour Event – The 2014 Beijing Millions

The Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) has proved to be extremely popular in recent years with some of the worlds leading players travelling half way around the world to take part. PokerStars are the current sponsors of the tour and they have today announced the first ever stop off for mainland China with the 2014 Beijing Millions.

The 2014 Beijing Millions has been given the go ahead by the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Sports and three PokerStars professionals have already been conformed for the event in July, with Bryan Huang, Celina Lin and Raymond Wu the three pros concerned.

The event will start on Thursday 18th July and run until Sunday 27th July with the Beijing Millions being the main event of the 10 day stop over. The Beijing Millions will be played out at the Beijing Star Poker Club in Chao Yang and it will feature a guaranteed minimum prize pool of one million Chinese Yuan, which is roughly around the $160,000 mark at today’s exchange rate. The event will feature five Day 1’s and it will have a buy-in of 3,000 Yuan, roughly $480, and there will be a host of other events during the course of the 10 day festival as well.

Danny McDonagh is the President of the APPT and he is “excited” about the stop over in China as he said, “Poker in China has become more and more popular in recent years. I am so excited that the Beijing Millions will become part of the APPT. International players will not only be fascinated by the history of this great city and all the attractions it has to offer, but will also enjoy an event held at a very professionally run club headed by Asia Player of the Year Champion Jian Yang.”

Asia Player of the Year Jian Yang had the following to say regarding next months event, saying, “The Beijing Millions is the first of many poker sporting events we plan to run in Beijing, and partnering with the APPT will ensure the event is held to the highest standard that we are seeking.”
