Aussie Millions 2014 Schedule Released

Written By: Maya Michaels | August 8, 2013 | Posted In Poker News

The Australian Poker Championships have been held in Melbourne since their inception in 1998, and the event is always well attended each and every year. In fact The Aussie Millions as it is more commonly known is the richest poker tournament in the Southern Hemisphere and the worlds top players will no doubt descend on Melbourne again at the end of January. The schedule for next years event has just been released and this year there are 20 events on the schedule, all of which will be keenly contested.

The event will start a little later than normal next year because of the Chinese New Year, and the event will also not clash with the Australian Open which is also held in Melbourne every January. It gets under way on Thursday 23rd January with the $1,100 No Limit Hold’em Event, an event that has three day ones. The Main Event is Event 8 and as in previous years it has a buy in of $10,600, and the action for this particular event will get under way on Sunday 2nd February, which is the first of three day ones. The organisers will be hoping to better last years turnout of 659 players when the action gets under way in February and maybe break the record of 780 from the 2008 event.

Richard Longhurst is the COO at the Crown Melbourne and he had this to say about next years event. He said, “Crown Melbourne’s Aussie Millions Poker Championship has effectively become one of the top poker majors and a favourite amongst some of the most renowned players in the world. With over 20 opportunities to win, and ESPN television coverage of the final tables of the AUD$100,000 and AUD$250,000 Challenges, along with the Main Event, the Aussie Millions stage has never been brighter.”
