888Poker “Reviewing” Contract With Luis Suarez After Latest Biting Incident

Six weeks ago 888poker announced the signing of Liverpool and Uruguay star Luis Suarez as their latest sporting poker ambassador, but today after the latest ‘biting incident’ involving Suarez at the FIFA World Cup 888 are now “reviewing their relationship”.

On Tuesday Suarez appeared to bite Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini on the shoulder, an incident that has since been seen by billions of viewers around the world. 888 chiefs have acted quickly and issued the following statement. It reads, “Following recent allegations made against Luis Suarez, we are reviewing our relationship with him. We will not tolerate unsporting behaviour.”

Immediately after the incident Italian defender Chiellini said, “He bit me, it’s clear, I still have the mark. The referee should have blown his whistle and given him a red card, also because he was simulating.”

It is not the first time Suarez has been involved in a biting incident, it has happened twice before, with the first incident back in 2010 when he was a player with Ajax, with the second incident occurring in April 2013 when Suarez bit Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic.

It is not only 888poker who are considering their deals with Suarez, but sponsorship deals with Adidas and Beats are also reportedly under threat today as well. It is good to see 888poker taking this stand as there is no place in sport, poker or life, for people who continue to act the way like Luis Suarez has behaved.
